Thank you for this inspiring column. I got goosebumps. Women like Louise, Connie Wimer (in her 90s, still going to the office and wearing fabulous heels) and my 90 year old mom who still volunteers and adopts new technology are making important contributions and staying sharp as tacks. Nice photos, too!
I remember Louise when she worked at the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women. I served on the Commission for 16 hears (repeated 4 year terms from the Governors serving over that period) and was also the Chair of the Commission for several years Louise did great work during that time and has continued to do so over the years since then. So nice to catch up with her again. Thanks for this post!
What a great article, Christie, about our mutual friend, Louise Lex. Louise has been a wonderful colleague and friend for nearly 25 years now, ever since she first recruited me for the Healthy Iowans 2010 project. She's been an inspiration and example to me as one who has been faithful and diligent in her work across political and ideological divides. Thanks so much for doing this profile in celebration of her well-earned retirement.
My book, A Visionary’s Road Map Louise Moede Lex, is heavily cited in this article. If you would like to read my book, go to the link in this article: According to a book her daughter Andrea wrote about her. My book appeals to a wide audience on a variety of issues and topics. My book is on Amazon. Thank you. Andrea Lex
I could only touch on one part of your mothers’s life. The book is a good read about a remarkable woman. Thanks for providing so many details. Christie
Have heard so much about Louise from my friend Deb Madison-Levi. Nice to read about her life!
We need more people like Louise in the world! Great story ❤️

Maybe Louise will lobby in her retirement to help Iowa solve the cancer dilemma!
Such a good read, Christie, thank you.
What an inspirational life story to start the day!
